ADULT CLASSES

Afro-Brazilian Dance:

Afro-Brazilian dance combines the rich history of the Yoruba religion as transplanted in Brazil along with the unique rhythms of Samba and Samba/Reggae as well as other African influenced movements. Each class begins with a warm up session feature progressive Afro-Brazilian flexibility movements and stretching exercises. Along with Horton and Luigi Jazz technique. Following the warm up students will be introduced to a variety of traditional and contemporary dance steps. Lively foot movements accompanied by elegant hip, shoulder, and arm gyrations are then added, creating a dance that includes the entire body in a fully traditional representation of Afro-Brazilian culture. Ballet:

Ballet Basics Introductory Series
This series is an introduction for students who have no prior ballet experience. Students will be introduced to the structure of a ballet class, basic ballet vocabulary, alignment and posture. Throughout this series, students will focus on building balance, strength, coordination and poise. Students must enroll for the full 5-week series, as classes progress from one week to the next.

Barre a Terre – Floor Barre
Floor Barre is a ballet barre performed horizontally, on the floor. Structured similarly to a ballet class, the exercises primarily use resistance to strengthen core and leg muscles and provide an impact-free alternative to ballet training. It is an excellent class to gently sculpt the body, supplement ballet or modern dance training, or to recover from an injury. Schedule It!

Ballet - Beginner
Beginner ballet is for students with little or no prior ballet training. Students practice a series of ballet technique exercises that build upon one another to thoroughly warm up and exercise the entire body. Starting with slow exercises at the barre, the class transitions to exercises in the center of the room for the second half of the class. As the foundation of many other dance forms, ballet is an excellent supplement to modern dance, jazz, and hip-hop training. Schedule It! Create by dancer and choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez, Zumba exercises combine Latin dance styles, aerobics and resistance training to strengthen and tone the body. At the heart of Zumba is Latin music and rhythmic movement patterns that unite with unique exercises to create a fun and challenging fitness program. Schedule It!

Ballet - Advanced Beginner
Students with at least one year of ballet training will find the attention to proper technique, epaulment, and rhythm to be a rewarding challenge. With a focus on alignment and breath, students will learn to dance calmly and safely. The goal is to go beyond the steps and delve into movement dynamics and style. Schedule It!

Ballet - Intermediate
Intermediate Ballet is for students with at least two years of ballet training. Through extended combinations at the barre and center, students focus on coordinating strength, flexibility, and musicality for seamless execution of steps. This class allows you to enjoy movement while perfecting ballet technique in a relaxed, positive atmosphere. Schedule It!

Ballet - Advanced/Intermediate
Advanced/Intermediate ballet is a fast-paced class that challenges students through complex movement combinations, spatial patterns, and rigorous exercises. Following a thorough warm-up at the barre, students practice adagio, pirouettes, petite allegro, and grand allegro in the center of the room. In a positive and supportive atmosphere, students are encouraged to improve technique and musicality while developing artistry. Schedule It!

 

Bellydance:

Raqs 'n' Roll Bellydance
Strength.Flexibility Dance, laugh, strengthen your body and tone that waistline. Belly dance will teach you the art of Middle Eastern Dance while stretching your mind, body and soul. These meltdown moves will tone and build muscle by strengthening the core muscles, arms and legs while building overall endurance and flexibility. This class is also ideal for the aspiring bellydancer wanting to drill and fine-tune movement while building and stamina. Come shake to the beat of your own drum! A multi-level class open to all! Glee Dance:

Glee Dance - Beginner
Glee Dance is a fun beginning class that fuses jazz, Broadway jazz and modern dance to prepare you to learn exciting choreographies inspired by Glee. For the avoidance of doubt, BTI is in no way affiliated with the television production Glee or its production company. Dance shoes or socks are required, No street shoes are allowed in the studio. Glee Dance - Intermediate
Glee Dance - Intermediate is a fun intermediate class that fuses jazz, Broadway jazz and modern dance to prepare you to learn exciting choreographies inspired by Glee. Modern Dance:

Modern - Advanced Beginner/Intermediate
This class introduces students to basic movement and principles of various modern dance techniques and styles, including Horton, Graham, Limon, and Taylor. At least 1 year of previous Dance Training is required for this class. Schedule It!

Modern - Intermediate/Advanced
This fast-paced class combines elements of modern and post-modern techniques to create a challenging exploration of spatial patterns, dynamics, and musicality. Starting with a thorough warm up, the class progresses through a series of focused exercises and concludes with an extended combination that may be built upon in future classes. At least 2 years of previous Dance Training is required for this class. Schedule It!

Modern - Advanced
The modern dance and post-modern dance classes cover the fundamentals of techniques and styles created by Lester Horton, Martha Graham, Jose Limon, Paul Taylor, and other various notable modern dance and post-modern dance innovators. Classes may combine these styles, or focus solely on one style. At least 3 years of previous Dance Training is required for this class. Schedule It!

 

Pilates:

Pilates
A yoga mat is needed for this class, you are welcome to bring your own or rent one from us for $1.00. Developed by Joseph Pilates, this system of exercises focuses on alignment, concentration, and breathing to create controlled movement that conditions the entire body. Pilates exercises are particularly effective at strengthening deep core and back muscles. Schedule It!

Pilates Body Groove
Pilates Body Groove A yoga mat is needed for this class, you are welcome to bring your own or rent one from us for $1.00. Pilates gets turned on its feet for this cardio-infused, body-slimming workout. Challenge your core, tone your tailfeather and get that confident posture you need to slip into your summer swimsuit or little black dress! Schedule It!

Pilates Core and More
Pilates Core and More A yoga mat is needed for this class, you are welcome to bring your own or rent one from us for $2.00. Joseph Pilates' principles are applied to this total body workout that incorporates functional training and yoga influences. Be prepared for a challenging and uplifting experience! Schedule It!

 

Stretching and Alignment:

A yoga mat is needed for this class, you are welcome to bring your own or rent one from us for $1.00.Stretching and Alignment (S & A) improves muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength and tone through physical and mental conditioning. S&A combines stretching and strength exercises in a refreshing mind-body workout - one in which you will feel results immediately after the class. There will be an intense focus on deep muscles and the spine (The most important structure of the body - the nervous system). The entire body is thoroughly trained during this class. Yoga:

Ashtanga Yoga
A yoga mat is needed for this class, you are welcome to bring your own or rent one from us for $1.00. A sequence of yoga shared to the western world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga yoga is the union between the breath and asana (poses) to ultimately produce a moving meditation that is available to practictioners of all levels. Pattabhi Jois said yoga is 1% theory and 99% practice. This class is based on the Ashtanga Primary Series, and although this is the basic level, this vigorous and challenging practice allows the mind and body to travel to a new state of enlightenment and bliss. Lunchtime Restorative Yoga
A yoga mat is needed for this class, you are welcome to bring your own or rent one from us for $1.00. This is a 45 minutes class that is a supported, conscious body/mind relaxation practice. Get off work during lunchtime and go back to work relaxed, de-stressed and renewedA sequence to relieve fatigue and stress, promote well-being, and bring healing balance into your life. The body relaxes and opens, releasing tension and stored-up toxins that can cause illness, a restorative yoga practice will bring your whole body into a deeply relaxed state, and allow your mind to become quiet and reflective, with your mental, psychological, and emotional bodies in blissful balance. Workshops:

Classical Ballet Repertoire series and performance with Elizabeth Wisenberg from Stuttgart Ballet Workshop $190.00. For 2 weeks Ballet Class and Repertoire Series This is a 2-week intermediate/advanced level workshop in Classical Ballet with international dancer Elizabeth Wisenberg from the Stuttgart Ballet in Germany. It is ideal for dancers who have already finished summer intensives elsewhere but haven't started the fall semester yet, or is a great way for dancers who did not go to a summer intensive to get back in shape before the fall semester. Minimum 3 years of pointe work required. The workshop will consist of a daily ballet class and pointe work/repertoire rehearsal with excerpts from Swan Lake. An informal studio performance will be held at the end of the course on Friday, August 27th at BTI Dance Institute. Schedule It!

 

CHILDREN

Creative Movement
students explore movement through music. It is a fun way to develop coordination and teach children the many different ways that their legs, arms, and even toes can move. Ages 4 thru 8. Schedule It!

Pre-Ballet
Youth Pre-Ballet prepares students for beginner level ballet. The class teaches children ballet basics such as how to point their feet, use turn-out, and stretch. It complements the Youth Creative Movement class by providing a more structured movement vocabulary. Ages 8 thru 12. Schedule It!
