BTI Dance Institute

The Pre-Professional Division is for students between the ages of 7-18 who would like to study dance in a focused manner, be it for physical activity, an education in the arts, or for future career aspirations. The program is divided into three levels and students will be grouped according to age, ability and development. Classes will be offered in both ballet and modern dance with the intention of ensuring the development of a well-rounded dancer. Upon completion of the program, students may choose to further their studies in the Professional Division, pursue a career in dance academically or professionally, or follow another path that they themselves have made available. An education in dance offers invaluable preparation not only for a career in the arts, but in any vocation they pursue.

Level One is for students 7-10 years of age. Dancers can expect to spend more time in the studio than in Pre-Ballet, as this is the first year of intensive training for the ballet student. Classes meet twice a week and focus on building a strong foundation for classical ballet in an age appropriate manner.

Level Two is for students 10-12 years of age. Classes will continue to meet twice a week and the possibility of pointe work will be discussed. With the foundation for classical ballet set, students will continue to expand their ballet vocabulary while being introduced to longer combinations, and more intricate musicality.

Level Three is for students 12 years of age and older. At this level students will begin modern dance training, while continuing to expand their classical ballet vocabulary and technique. In addition to more advanced classes, an emphasis will be placed on the development of the dancers individual artistry and maturity.
