Junior Division: The Junior Division includes Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet
Creative Movement classes give children, ages 3-4, a route to creative learning and expression, which help to boost confidence and self-esteem. These classes foster coordination, balance, rhythm, and musicality in a fun and nurturing environment. Students will be exposed to tumbling and a myriad of dance and musical styles, often facilitated by the use of props, such as ribbon streamers, balls, scarves, rhythm sticks, etc. Students will learn the extremely beneficial foundations of classroom etiquette, which include impulse control, skills in listening and communication, as well as appropriate means of self-expression.
Pre-Ballet classes, for children ages 5-7, are an introduction to formal ballet instruction. These classes introduce children to music and movement through a structured progression, which stress creativity and group interaction. Pre-Ballet serves as an excellent and fun introduction to classical ballet and the performing arts. The Pre-Ballet syllabus is designed to facilitate the development of both fine and gross motor skills, which are becoming more refined at this age. By introducing students to the basic shapes, positions, postures and traditions of classical ballet, the Pre-Ballet curriculum enhances both the cognitive and physical development of the young dancer during this critical age.
